Adem\u00e1s, la red particip\u00f3 en dos importantes reuniones de cabildeo en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico, que contribuyeron significativamente a fortalecer nuestra misi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 M\u00e9xico?<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La cumbre se organiz\u00f3 en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico para apoyar a las organizaciones miembros mexicanas. La lucha contra las corridas de toros est\u00e1 alcanzando una fase decisiva en el pa\u00eds. Muchas organizaciones, a trav\u00e9s de la plataforma M\u00e9xico sin Toreo, han recolectado m\u00e1s de 30,000 firmas para una iniciativa ciudadana que busca prohibir las corridas en la Ciudad de M\u00e9xico. Pronto, el congreso de la ciudad revisar\u00e1 esta propuesta.<\/p>\n<p>Ya se han logrado avances significativos: las corridas han sido suspendidas en varias ciudades, y cinco estados mexicanos las han prohibido por completo. Adem\u00e1s, el Parlamento Mexicano ha reconocido a los animales como seres sintientes y ha incluido la prohibici\u00f3n del maltrato animal en la constituci\u00f3n Mexicana.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Apariciones en TV y Radio<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>La red aprovech\u00f3 al m\u00e1ximo el foco medi\u00e1tico, realizando entrevistas para cuatro de las mayores cadenas nacionales de televisi\u00f3n y radio en M\u00e9xico, alcanzando a millones de espectadores y oyentes. La principal conclusi\u00f3n es que el inter\u00e9s por las corridas de toros est\u00e1 disminuyendo a nivel mundial. Maite van Gerwen, directora de CAS International, destac\u00f3:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00abDurante la cumbre, presenciamos actividades inspiradoras y desarrollos positivos en varios pa\u00edses. Todos los indicios apuntan a que las corridas de toros est\u00e1n perdiendo apoyo p\u00fablico y, con suerte, desaparecer\u00e1n pronto.\u00bb<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Destacados de la Cumbre:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Colombia hace historia.<\/strong> Colombia se convierte en el primer pa\u00eds con corridas de toros que en la reciente historia proh\u00edbe esta pr\u00e1ctica, a partir de 2027.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cuatro capitales sin corridas.<\/strong> Durante 2023\u20132024 no se realizaron corridas en Bogot\u00e1, Caracas y Quito. En Par\u00eds est\u00e1n prohibidas desde hace m\u00e1s de 100 a\u00f1os, aunque todav\u00eda se permiten en algunas regiones del sur de Francia.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mayor oposici\u00f3n social.<\/strong> Algunos ejemplos:\n<ul>\n<li>En M\u00e9xico, el 73% de la poblaci\u00f3n considera que las corridas son crueldad animal (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reforma.com\/dicen-no-a-corridas-de-toros\/gr\/vi121198?ap=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reforma Diario<\/a>, 2019).<\/li>\n<li>En Espa\u00f1a, Francia y Portugal, el 77% cree que las corridas causan un sufrimiento excesivo y el 58% apoya una prohibici\u00f3n (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stieren.net\/encuesta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ipsos I&amp;O Public<\/a>, 2023, encargada por CAS International).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menos corridas de toros:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Francia: una disminuci\u00f3n del 40% en 20 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<li>Espa\u00f1a: una ca\u00edda del 63% desde 2007.<\/li>\n<li>Ecuador: 65% menos corridas en 11 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Protecci\u00f3n mejorada para la infancia:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Ecuador proh\u00edbe la asistencia a menores de 18 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<li>Portugal trabaja en una prohibici\u00f3n para menores de 16 a\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<li>Venezuela y M\u00e9xico est\u00e1n implementando medidas similares, aunque Espa\u00f1a se queda rezagada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Menor inter\u00e9s entre los j\u00f3venes.<\/strong> Los j\u00f3venes muestran menos inter\u00e9s en las corridas de toros, lo que pone en peligro su supervivencia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong>Defenzoor del A\u00f1o<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Durante la cumbre internacional se otorg\u00f3 la distinci\u00f3n \u00abDefenzoor del A\u00f1o\u00bb (un galard\u00f3n que desde el a\u00f1o 2005 entrega la asociaci\u00f3n colombiana <a href=\"https:\/\/defenzoores.co\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Defenzoores<\/a>, organizaci\u00f3n miembro de la red) a la Senadora colombiana Esmeralda Hern\u00e1ndez Silva y al Congresista Juan Carlos Losada. TV and Radio Appearances The network took full advantage of the media spotlight, giving interviews for four of Mexico\u2019s largest national TV and radio networks, reaching millions of viewers and listeners. Campaigner and vice-chair of CAS International (co-founder of the network), Estefania Pampin Zuidmeer , alongside Colombian Senator Esmeralda Hern\u00e1ndez Silva, discussed the global situation and the fight to outlaw bullfighting in Colombia. The session was organized by our member-organization, AnimaNaturalis M\u00e9xico. \u2022 Meeting with Senator Reyna Celeste Ascencio Ortega of the Morena Party This meeting focused on the inclusion of animal rights in the Mexican Constitution. It was initiated by our member-organization, Movimiento Consciencia. Conclusions of the 16th International Summit CAS International organized the summit in Mexico-City. The main conclusion is that the interest in bullfighting is declining worldwide. Maite van Gerwen, Director of CAS International highlights: \u201cDuring the summit, we witnessed inspiring activities and positive developments from various countries. All signs indicate that bullfighting is losing public support and will hopefully disappear soon.\u201d Highlights from the Summit: \u2022 Colombia makes history. Colombia becomes the first bullfighting country to completely ban the practice, effective 2027. \u2022 Four capitals without bullfights.
